- Galvanized (metallic surface)
- A metal surface (particularly iron or steel) coated with zinc. (NPS)
- Geographic Information System (GIS)
- A computer application used to store, view, and analyze geographical information, especially maps. (BLM)
- Geospatial
- Term used to describe data that includes a geographic component (location). (NPS)
- Glare
- The sensation produced by luminance within the visual field that is sufficiently greater than the luminance to which the eyes are adapted, which causes annoyance, discomfort, or loss in visual performance and visibility. See also Glint. (NPS)
- Glint
- A momentary flash of light resulting from a spatially localized reflection of sunlight. See also Glare. (NPS)
- Grading
- Mechanical process of moving earth to change the degree of rise or descent (slope) of the land in order to establish good drainage to otherwise suit the intent of a landscape or engineering site design. (BLM, NPS)
- Grain
- Term used to help define texture. Refers to the relative size of the surface variations. (BLM, NPS)
