Unacceptable alteration
A scenic integrity level (never an objective) where human activities of vegetative and landform alterations are excessive and totally dominate the natural or natural-appearing landscape character. Unacceptable alterations are "what not to do to any landscape," regardless of the distance from which the management activity may be observed. (USFS)
Unity
Landscape with a quality or state of being made whole or a condition of harmony. (USFS)
Urban (landscape character type)
Landscapes consist of developed, densely populated areas typically centered on a central commercial core. Infrastructure and circulation patterns are present. (USFS, NPS)
Use volume
The total volume of visitor use on a travel route or destination. (BLM)
Utility-scale
Descriptive term for energy facilities that generate large amounts of electricity that is delivered to many users through transmission and distribution systems. (NPS)
Utility-scale renewable energy
Descriptive term for renewable energy facilities that generate large amounts of electricity that is delivered to many users through transmission and distribution systems. (NPS)
